The “Divine Liturgy” which is most frequently celebrated in the Eastern Church and which bears his name as well as his motto: “a man full of zeal suffices to transform a people”, shows the effectiveness of Christ’s action through his ministers. ![]() He was described as “golden-mouthed” because of his extraordinary eloquence he was also called “ Doctor of the Eucharist” because of the vastness and depth of his teaching on the Most Holy Sacrament. A few days ago, we commemorated Saint John Chrysostom, Patriarch of Constantinople at the end of the fourth century. ![]() Throughout the year, the liturgy presents to us as examples holy ministers of the Altar who have drawn strength from the imitation of Christ in daily intimacy with him in the celebration and adoration of the Eucharist. ![]()

My familiarity w/ Mat Johnson goes back to his novel Loving Day which was an interesting and positive minded satire revolving around the life of people who were from mixed cultures. It is a mystery-noir that delves into race relations, gender issues, family, love and friendship. ![]() Incognegro is more than just a period piece. During his tenure he worked to desegregate the armed forces after World War II, established the NAACP’s Legal Defense Fund and infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan to expose those involved with lynchings and other human rights violations. Incognegro is in part based on the life of Walter Francis White, the Executive Secretary of the NAACP from 1931 until his death in 1955.
